Honey-Barbecued Ribs

Try these ribs at your next barbecue!

Honey-Barbecued Ribs

4 pounds pork spareribs
1 pouch dry onion soup mix
3/4 cup ketchup
3/4 cup water
1/3 cup honey
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp garlic powder or 2 cloves garlic minced

Cut ribs into 2 or 3-rib portions. In a large pot or dutch oven, place ribs and add cold water to cover. Over high heat, heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for about 45 minutes, then drain.

While the ribs are boiling, in another saucepan, combine soup mix, ketchup, water, honey, pepper, and garlic powder. Over high heat, heat to boiling, then reduce heat to low and simmer about 5 min, stirring occasionally.

To grill: On grill rack, arrange ribs directly above medium coals (or use gas over medium heat if desired). Grill uncovered for about 30 minutes, turning often and brushing with sauce.

To bake: In a large roasting pan, arrange ribs, then pour sauce over, turning to coat. Bake at 400* for 20 min. Turn ribs, spoon sauce over tops, and bake about 20 mins more or until glazed.
